can't remember the last time i came here...probably when i got pissed with someone or something.. so does that mean i seldom get pissed?? ha ha

i just thought of paying mymesra blog a visit what with the emergence of newer, fancier networking sites such as facebook. oh..talking about that, i wonder what happened to friendster..

what's my point here? well, every now and then, we encounter new waves of sites and see how they boom or fizzle afterwards. but i guess that's a natural cycle. i make friends in every site i enter be it here, myspace, friendster & facebook. the only reason i did join these sites was initially to find my long-lost friends and the only site that actually succeeded in doing that was facebook. perhaps that's why it's been used more and more these days instead of the other sites.

don't get me wrong here. i'm sure mymesra has its positive and attractive traits. but i just needed to write in this blog that i've also moved on from my employment with skali as the nerdy investment analyst to another venture capital and now another VC and private equity. we all want to progress for the better. and surely does mymesra.

Sukahati Mak Engkau Bank Thu Nov 27, 2008
they came to us like we did something wrong.
they spoke to us in a tone as if they are high and mighty.
who the eff do they think they are again?
they acted with a coat of authority on them, ready to cuff us like we're somekind of villain.
they accused us of being un-professional in our work and corporate ethics when all i gotta say is "speak for yourself!"

for the past months these people have been bugging us.
the problem is, if you are not or never have been in the private equity or venture capital line, then act like one. your mentality is as narrow (literally) as, if not narrower, the size of an amoeba but you spoke as if your knowledge equates the volume of the 7 seas!

i have enough of such people around! the least they could do was to ask in a polite manner of things they didnt understand rather than rudely demanding and scrutinizing us right down to the wormhole.

most of the capable and knowledgeable guys have left this profession save us and some jebons like us who think we can save the entrepreneurs of this country.
a pity, those who are caretakers of public funds dont have such expertise no more. they make enemies with the investees and applicants. they chose to believe in the Jewish system of charging interests and providing guaranteed returns. hah, you can be praying 5 times a day and go for hajj but your very source of income comes from riba. Good luck on that!

soon, we might leave this profession too what with too much political ploys and fiasco.
we're not Heroes... we cant save the cheerleader and save the world.

"Sukahati Mak Engkau Bank! You guys think you're so good? You have so much to answer to God in the hereafter!" I've had it. I rest my case.

"nom, no expectations, plz, NO EXPECTATIONS," he said.

i can understand why my mate kept on saying that.. the last time he went to watch a movie that he placed so much expectations on, one that was based on the comic that he enjoyed before, was one BIG BLOW. "stupid Ghost-mother-beep of a rider that movie was!" he'd complain.

we've been waiting for this masterpiece by franck muller for sometime and when the release date was announced, we didnt hesitate getting the gsc golden class tix to watch it.

i told him i read the reviews about the movie and they gave it a 8.6/10 rating, which was definitely gonna be good. i started describing what the reviewers wrote and yada yada yada.

"nom, stop talking abt the movie like as if you've watched it," he exclaimed.

"ok ok, i wont."

it started off with good narration, then the graphics, the colour, the vigor, the savaged spartan/barbaric scenes, the cinematography on HD (high definition).... oohhh simply breathtaking brilliant!

i must say, the last time i had such a satisfying, stunned feeling was after i watched the Matrix. It was like a "Whoa!". This movie "300" left me with the same feeling albeit at least 10x unexpectedly better!!!! it's a new era of movie/film-making this movie is.

when i watched Sin City, yeah, i was impressed by how the movie was made etc but it wasnt all that. but 300, u just gotta watch it yourself man! It's LOTR, Troy & Gladiator, magnified with fast-paced,blood-spluttering, warrior-fighting scenes, more 6-packs &"brad-pitts" ala troy, more "whoa" scenes.... more what else??? (macam advertisement celcom lah pulak)

in short, it's a movie worth paying 10 bucks (or in my case, 40 bucks) for. i'd go watch again next week .... and hell no, i aint gonna get pirate dvds/vcds to watch this movie in the future.

p/s: i love the tagline of 300: "PREPARE FOR GLORY!!!"

family day Fri Feb 23, 2007
everyone in my office has checked in at the hotel for the family day save I & my newly recruited staff. It's REALLY very silent now that the usual suspects in the office arent around to blast their mp3s.

sometimes i wonder if going for 'family day' trips would do any good or is it just a means to utilise the budget allocated so that companies can enjoy the tax benefits etc.
perhaps i dont quite see the necessity coz ours is a small team and we get to do things together most of the time, so there really isnt a need to go somewhere. Why do i think in that way??? maybe becoz i'm still single and i dont see much point mingling with those with spouses and kids.

here i am, still stuck in the office, trying to complete the reports before i join them in the family day tomorrow afternoon. i dunno what i'm missing probably coz tonite there's already the first get-together session.

uh well, the boring, straight me babbling again.... but that's the REALITY...
